About author

I am a PhD student at Ohio University researching urban street tree survival. My work explores how land use changes impact urban tree cover over time, integrating historical aerial imagery and ecological analysis. I have a strong background in plant science, having completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, specializing in plant science. I then earned my MSc in Environmental Science and Forestry from the University of Peradeniya, where I deepened my understanding of ecosystem dynamics and conservation.

My passion for urban ecology extends beyond research—I enjoy engaging with communities and sharing insights on the importance of trees in cities. I also write about urban ecology, aiming to bridge the gap between scientific research and public awareness.
